Prosecutor says he is ashamed of Leighton case
Howard Freeman of Lawrenceburg testified before the state pardons board that the 28 year old prosecution of Ira Leighton for the murder of Lawrence County Sheriff Cleve Weathers was a railroaded effort. Leighton, 47, was convicted and jailed for 99 years after stabbing the sheriff in a jail cell, while Leighton maintained the sheriff attacked him with a blackjack.

State backs modified no fault plan for loans

Explosions Level Shops in Las Vegas Center
A string of blasts shattered windows and leveled eight shops in a Las Vegas shopping center early today. One man was killed when debris from the main explosion crashed onto him in a donut shop. no other injuries were reported.
