ST PAUL July 7 AP A tired but unharmed Haskel Bohn youth returned home with a tale of being held captive nearly a week by a gang of women. Police later arrested three men who allegedly tried to extort ten thousand dollars from his father George Bohn. Bohn described being seized at gunpoint, transported to a garage, then moved to a basement before release.

Reynolds Death Probe Not Ended

The Twin City Sentinel reports big authorities are pursuing new angles in the Reynolds death probe. It says Smith Reynolds and his bride Libby Holman were allegedly in bed together when the fatal shot occurred. Mrs Reynolds reportedly told officers her account before leaving the house. Ab Walker, a guest, heard a shot and found Reynolds alone after rushing upstairs.

French Sub Promethee Sinks at Cherbourg Harbor

The French submarine Promethee with 46 men aboard sank near Cherbourg harbor. Seven crewmen were saved. Promethee, a 1884-ton class submarine, measures 302 feet with a 20 foot beam and carries a 3.9 inch gun, an 87 millimeter gun, a machine gun, and eleven 21.7 inch torpedo tubes. The type was considered not highly successful in trials. Promethee's sister ships Vangeur and Redoutable completed a West Indies cruise in 1930.

Prohibition party nominates Upshaw for president

The Prohibition party’s national convention in Indianapolis nominated former Georgia Democrat William D. Upshaw for the presidency on a second ballot.
