At Lonesome Pine Airport Wise Va thursday a large crowd estimated 8000 to 10000 watched the first air show of its kind. Ten parachutists from Huntington W Va jumped from 5000 to 6000 feet two times each, skydivers performed amid F 84F jet formations until an oil leak cut the flyover. Civil Air Patrol groups and 30 to 40 small airplanes were on hand. one skydiver sprained an ankle on landing.

Fire kills Bristol man and grandson in rural Virginia home
A 70 year old man Charles Berry Nunn and his 24 year old grandson Junior Nunn died in a blaze that destroyed their Old Camp Ground Road house near Bristol Virginia. George Anderson and Pat Gillenwater found the charred bodies after neighbors feared for Mrs Oakey Nunn who was away. Fire Chief Jack Cole said the origin could not be determined.
