Most local shops will shut down for the Fourth of July with drug stores staying open. Legion and Junior Order games are planned at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Dobyns Bennett High School, followed by an eight o'clock evening speech. Prizes include a Ford, a Chevrolet, and cash awards of 75 and 23 dollars. Post office hours are limited to 10–11 a.m. windows with lobby open all day.

Damage to the Tennessee Supply Bill reached about one thousand dollars while other businesses faced losses from high water. Creeks rose out of banks flooding streets, water entered several buildings opposite the Southern station, and roofs of some structures were blown off. No injuries were reported.
