New York July 1 Commander Richard E. Byrd reportedly set a new long distance flight record of 3,812 miles from New York to Ver Sur Mer France. The craft reportedly covered the New York Paris leg then landed at sea near Ver Sur Mer after about 30 hours 55 minutes in the air. Previous record holders Clarence Chamberlin and Charles A Levine had flown to Germany in roughly 44 hours. Lindbergh's New York to Paris run covered 3,010 miles in 23 hours 24 minutes.
