Court Finishes Criminal Case in Sullivan County Session
The January term criminal docket at Sullivan County Circuit Court closed shortly after noon Friday. The final case, David A. Martin Jr and Wilford B. Morelock, found guilty of attempted grand larceny, received 30 days in jail with credit for time served. They were accused in the attempted theft of an automobile belonging to J W Shoemaker, a Kingsport Press employee. Kingsport officers Armmonds and Burchfield testified to grease on their hands and fitting descriptions from Thaewielar. Other Friday rulings included Faucette denied a new trial and sent to the Supreme Court on appeal, Collier’s perjury case continued, and a forfeiture set aside with costs.
