Canada May Pull Peace Observer Force From Vietnam
Ottawa says Canada will withdraw its peace observer force from Vietnam within 60 days unless an international authority is created to oversee the ceasefire. External Affairs Minister Mitchel Sharp said 130 soldiers 14 diplomats and eight newsmen could depart this weekend, with the rest due 15 to 60 days after the ceasefire starts. Sharp said he informed U S Secretary Rogers of the plan noting Canada seeks UN style oversight and warned of withdrawal if authority is not formed. He added Rogers understands the Canadian position and cleared details.
