Harmony, Ind. Jan 26 Guided by President John L. Lewis the thirty second biennial convention of the United Mine Workers of America opened with a harmony tone. About a thousand miners from twenty districts in the United States and Canada attended representing roughly half a billion coal diggers in anthracite and bituminous fields. Full Quota District 12 of Illinois sent about three hundred delegates while Pennsylvania hard coal miners numbered about two hundred fifty. The wage policy for the bituminous miners for the next two years will be set at the convention.
