Race horses burned to death at New Orleans fair track
Fifteen race horses perished and three men were seriously burned when a fire gutted two horse barns at the New Orleans fair ground race track. The blaze started from a defective oil heater in the men’s quarters, fed by a strong wind, trapping jockey Wilfred May and stablemen J W Smith and Phil Chatman inside one barn.
