Haig Will Pay $46 For Dog's Chauffeur
Gen. Alexander Haig will reimburse the U.S. government 46.92 dollars for driving his dog Duncan 95 miles in a chauffeured army limousine from Frankfort Airport to Haig's Stuttgart headquarters. An army spokesman said Haig learned of the transport Tuesday and will cover the expense. The incident, described as outraging American GIs, involved a beagle dachshund mix arriving Oct. 30. Rep. Clothing Store Bandits Take Hostages in South Bend
Two armed robbers seized Rosenbaum's clothing store and held six hostages including the owner and his wife. Police provided a van in exchange for two civilian hostages and a vehicle, later releasing three captives. Two policemen remained with the robbers along with a 17 year old hostage as a chase ended without a getaway car.
