Reds Use South Viet POWs To Lure Buddies Into Ambush

Saigon reports Communist forces offered to free 130 wounded South Vietnamese POWs but used some as bait to ambush rescue teams. Allied air power cut 43 Communist trucks and damaged 51 others while reporting 46 South Vietnamese and 325 North Vietnamese deaths in the three day Michelin plantation battle near Dau Tieng. A Hanoi broadcast hailed the action as a brilliant feat of arms. Nearby, South Vietnamese troops faced heavy losses near Vi Thanh in the Mekong Delta.

Butane Train Blasts Near Chemical Plant in Georgia

A Seaboard Coast Line freight train derailed near a chemical plant in Powder Springs, carrying five tankers of butane and other gases. Two crewmen injured. two butane tanks exploded. three remaining tanks contained toxic gas. About 200 residents within a one mile radius evacuated as fears of further explosions rose. The derailment occurred after loading at the AW chemical plant and sending the train toward Atlanta, 20 miles away. witnesses reported a red-orange glow like an atomic bomb.
