Bluff City Hit Run Fatality Involving Bluff City Man
John Harkeroad, 48, of Bluff City, was struck and killed on Highway 81 near Ares A of Holston Ordnance Works in Bluff City. North Woods Guide Hanged For Murder
Sault Ste. Marie Ontario reports the 19 year old North Woods guide James Simons was hanged for the murder of Mrs Catharine Rupert and her two year old son at a Pancake Bay tourist lodge last April 19. Simons allegedly shot the woman during an attempted rape and spent his final hours singing hymns with a Salvation Army officer. Rupert had moved to the lodge area with her husband a US war veteran two years earlier. Simons was described as a cafe keeper and guide at the camp.
