Tremingham Jan 20 A T Moore superintendent of safety and sanitation for the Southern Railway and an unidentified woman were found shot to death on the outskirts of Birmingham Moore was struck in the face by a shotgun charge while he worked on his automobile which had halted on the roadside The woman's body about 28 was found some distance from him with a shotgun charge in her head Police believe she had been fleeing the car at the time The bodies were found this morning by a negro en route to work Moore was married and father of two children His wife is believed to be residing in Chattanooga He was 40 years old.
Rival forces in Nashville, Tenn marked a trial vote on a bill to authorize purchase or construction by 3 to 6 toll bridges over various rivers at a cost not to exceed 4,500,000. The measure passed the Senate with an unanimous vote and moved to the lower house.
In Knoxville Tennessee a dispute arose when girls wore wool sport socks over silk hose. Principal Miss Mussig Gresham demanded removal of the socks prompting a county board review. Merbie, a student, kept home pending appeal and undecided about returning. Board members split on acceptability.
Nashville reports opening Senate session with Bratton recommending passage to retain an additional district attorney general for Davidson County. Multiple Senate bills introduced include land rent title, waterworks, school boards, tax levies, fish catching, road law repeal, county bonds, sinking funds, serial bonds, court houses, and bonds for North Chattanooga and Dyer County attorney position.
Mexico City January 20 The Yaqui uprising in Sonora reaches its final phase as chieftains seek amnesty and hand over arms to pursue farming. General Amaro reports acceptance of unconditional surrender after talks with President Calles. Further mobilizations planned in Sonora and nearby states as Catholic rebels fade. Casualties from Wednesday’s clash at Atotoniboba not yet tallied.

The talks center on many preliminary hurdles before any move to refer the case to an impartial tribunal.
Dispatches from Managua report that Dr Juan B Sucasa head of the Liberal regime rejected General Adolfo Diaz s peace proposals. Diaz sought a conference to allow Liberal participation in government Liberal representation on the supreme court Liberal congressmen elected without contest in two departments and US supervision of elections in 1988. A Diaz cavalry detachment reportedly defeated Liberal forces at El Pozo Telica in NW Nicaragua.
In Paninesville Ohio January 20 the Lake county grand jury probe into beach orgies and petting parties involving Willoughby students continues. prosecutor Seth Paulin predicts the investigation will extend to the next grand jury. Four men are arrested including Roy Boltz 26 from Sandusky, linked by a nine year old girl. Eleven people including an 83 year old man and several boys remain in custody. a warrant was issued for the brother of a girl who testified.
Berlin January 20 Chancellor Marx failed to form a cabinet of middle party elements. He returned his commission to President Von Hindenburg as the president weighs next steps to resolve the ministerial crisis. Marx met with the chairman of the people's party which has urged a rightist coalition, but insurmountable difficulties prevented a middle party coalition. Marx reported to the president that his efforts were fruitless. The Marx cabinet resigned last December after a Reichstag defeat but remained in office by request over the holidays.
New York Jan 20 Senator James A Reed Missouri urges restoring state authority to limit federal power. In a National Boot and Shoe Manufacturers Association address he says laws and officials oppress, regulate and cost citizens dearly. He is hailed as a prospective president by association leaders. Flo Ziegfeld show tickets priced at 27.10 for orchestra seating. second nights cost 3.40.
A joint resolution introduced in the Tennessee House by Representatives McCleish and Coleman calls on Congress to abolish the federal estate inheritance tax as a state rights issue. The measure was referred to the judiciary committee.

Los Angeles January 20 Mrs Lita Grey Chaplin seeks a payday from Sharlie Chaplin in a divorce case. Receivers reported almost one million dollars in cash across Chaplin and related entities held in banks in Hollywood New York England and France. Superior Judge Gerin ordered Chaplin Studios to post a 1 million dollar bond to protect Mrs Chaplin while an appeal is delayed. New York offices will decide whether the bond will be forthcoming.
