Tennessee farmers yielded 741,100 pounds of lespedeza seed in 1965, per the Tennessee Crop Reporting Service. Output fell 10 percent from 1961 and 4 percent below the 1939-averaged level, with a harvested yield of 195 pounds per acre versus 204 pounds in 1964 and a 226 pound state average. Nationwide production rose modestly from last year yet remained below the national average, while farmers expect about $0.80 less per pound than for 1964, averaging across lespedeza varieties.
