Gray to select names, with court attaches timing the wider inquiry to over 20 locals across the county’s lower end who claim victimization or knowledge of unlawful activity by visitors. The probe, triggered by publicized allegations of officers taking payoffs to avoid arrests for transporting small amounts of liquor, is described as a serious violation of the statute. Two men arrested on liquor and gambling charges appeared before the grand jury, but no action was taken yesterday.
