Two Detroit Real Estate Dealers in Fatal Ravine Shooting
In Detroit on January 15 Mrs Edith Cummings a 49 year old real estate dealer was shot dead in a rural ravine. Mrs Julia Barker another dealer surrendered claiming self defense. Both were reputed millionaires from the citys pre depression boom and co defendants in a Kentucky conspiracy case involving 46000 tied to land bought by Henry Ford. Barker says Cummings lured her to the ravine and fired after a struggle. Coroner notes two bullets struck Cummings. The pistol vanished from Priebe s office after visits by both women. Barker seeks to surrender reporting she is in terrible trouble.

Effort To Revoke Franchise Killed In State Tribunal
Chattanooga failed in the Tennessee Supreme Court to revoke the Tennessee Electric Power Co. franchise while seeking a judicial definition of rights. The city argued the company held only temporary licenses, risking $25 000 000 to $30 090 000 of property. Negotiations with TVA continued though not central to the ruling.

Trial set in Edith Maxwell case in Scott county
In Gate City Virginia on January 15 the Scott county case of Myrtle Mitchell Cox proceeds next Tuesday with both defense and prosecution ready. The indictment charges her with the slaying of her father W. H. Mitchell in Rye Cove last November after he died from a dozen scalp wounds. Coroner H. K. McConnell and Dr. A. McG. Wallace testified the blows caused death and the state calls more than twenty witnesses.
