National Guardsmen recalled from Rossville strike area
Three hundred fifty guardsmen on duty in Rossville in connection with the Richmond Hosiery mills strike left today to return home. A crowd of 50 or more pickets resumed at the mill gates, urging workers against entering the plant. Union head Walter Frazier said 200 more pickets would be on duty this afternoon. He warned against violence and sidewalk obstruction. Twenty five special deputies remained on duty along with the police chief and sheriff. Some of 33 arrested earlier joined today after release. The mill operated at full capacity with all 440 machines running.
