Youth Charged With Murder In Marsden Slaying
Detroit youth Walter J. Blattert, 19, faces first degree murder charges in the strangling death of 40 year old Mrs Gladys Marsden found in a school yard. Detective Lt Charles Buckholdt said Blattert admitted striking her after she would not quit hollering and taking nine dollars plus a wrist watch. He surrendered Saturday night and claimed they drank together in a Detroit tavern a week earlier and that she became noisy prompting the fatal blow.
