Cotton men from several states gather in Memphis at a Knights of Cotton conference to tackle price declines. Two plans are ready: a $500 million cooperative to buy cotton at low prices and a large insurance company to protect producers, both aiming to shield growers from market losses. Attendance included governors and state legislators, though response levels were below expectations.

Witnesses included the woman and two others. the incident occurred near Indian Springs on Chestnut Ridge as she walked home from the grocery.

The measure would tax cigars cigarettes and snuff with fines for dealers who fail to collect it and prison terms for counterfeit stamps. Revenue would fund rural eight month schools with at least 800000 yearly. An amendment extends tax collection timing in the House. Davidson county seeks transfer funds for Nashville flood relief. Secretary Hoover invited to address a joint session on January 27.
Michael Cudahy a 19 year old heir, jailed after his mother thwarted three marriage attempts to wed film actress Miss Marie Astaire. Sheriff James Ross detained him in Santa Barbara as the couple chased licenses in Santa Ana, Los Angeles, and Ventura amid telegram and telephone interruptions. Miss Astaire remained silent, saying reporters should ask her fiancé about the outcome.
