15 Killed During New Year Activity
More than 100 destin were at tributed today to New Year observances as a cold wave swept the nation from the Rockies to New England. Auto accidents accounted for over sixty deaths, with fires gunplay and other mishaps raising the toll to at least 115. Among the dead was a three month old girl in Waukesha Wisconsin suffocated when left in a parked car during the celebration. At least eleven deaths were from fires including five men burned in a Cherokee County home blaze in Gaffney South Carolina and four in El Paso Texas where elevator shaft smoke filled a room.
