John Henry Hoard a negro about 40 and World War veteran was killed instantly when the Ford cabriolet he drove skidded left the roadway near the Holston River bridge and plunged down a 150 foot embankment. An eyewitness Doc Overbay said the car struck a slick patch, the driver lost control, and the vehicle rolled over after going down the bank.
