Charles Britton known as Britt to friends has devoted years to saving lives in Kingsport. He helped organize the Kingsport Life Saving Crew in 1948 with Walter Salyers and Clifton Kenner and remains the crews oldest active member. A spokesman calls him Mr First Aid and notes his calm under pressure. Six months after organizing the squad they got a new resuscitator and once brought a man back to life when a doctor doubted they could save him. Salyers recalls Britt and the resuscitator reviving the man, who is still living.
