Disaster prep hero honored for relief work in county
During last April's windstorms Marian Moffitt's trailer was wrecked by a neighbor's trailer striking it. She sought help from Wallace Pardue, county civil defense director, who coordinated immediate aid by securing motel shelter and meals for her family and others. Pardue's leadership spurred creation of three volunteer fire departments in Bloomingdale, Lynn Garden, and Colonial Heights as six homes burned in ten days last spring.
