John Franklin Blevins, a prominent Tennessee attorney and East Tennessee figure, died yesterday of a heart attack suffered about 30 minutes earlier. Born in Sullivan County near Blountville in December, he taught school before studying law with Attorney CO. AL Brown. His long career and service to the bar spanned many counties east of Rouxville.

Chicago Dec 29 National Safety Council predicts total auto deaths in 1935 will reach 41 300 the lowest since 1933 if the November through December trend continues. The expected drop of 3 009 from the 49 500 peak last year marks the largest annual decline in U S history. November fatalities were down 17 percent from 1937. From Jan 1 to Dec 1 about 25 470 people were killed versus 25 770 a year earlier. A nationwide tightening of safety programs is cited by council president J D Fennell as the main cause of the reduction.

Joe Hilton a 22 year old Kingsport resident suffered a severe skull laceration and possible skull fracture after a late night crash on highway 8 near Fall Branch. Hilton was semiconscious on admission. driver Hilbert Cross 26 faced reckless driving charges and was released on 250 bond. Cross reported as en route to work at Eastman plant when his car struck a Sulivan County school bus parked beside the highway in front of the Eastman recreational building.
British manager of the Ottoman Bank, long missing since Monday, arrived unharmed in Jerusalem after Arab captors released him when friends paid for his freedom. The incident follows a tense period of hostage dynamics in the region.
New York December 29 the New York Stock Exchange expelled J A Sisto a general partner in A Sisto Co for improper conduct. Sisto tied to 1982 charges involving Samuel Sexbury and former Mayor James J Walker over bonds worth over 26000.
