MEMPHIS, Dec. 22. Two persons burned to death and two others seriously injured in a head on collision on the Bristol highway near Gallway, Tenn. A gasoline tank exploded. one car carried Joseph Merriman Russell, 39, associate manager of a Memphis life insurance office, and Mrs. Bruce O'Hare, 30. The other car carried James Shelbarger, 22, and Pat Hughes, 38, both of Bells, Tenn. The injured were rushed to a hospital.

GRAND RAPIDS Mich Dec 22 41 The mystery of a Christmas fruit cake containing a metal bolt was solved with a radiograph by Dr G G Stonehouse and nurse assistance. Mrs Louis H Hake who baked 13 cakes mailed one to a sister and wrapped others for mailing. A quarter inch bolt from her electric mixer was missing. A thorough search indicated the bolt was in one cake. The doctor examined the cakes and advised further action.
