Man Thought to be Hickman Released After Fingerprints Fail

Frederick Piani, white male, believed to be the killer of Mrs Teabelie James Shedaker, wealthy widow, shoots and kills her in Burlington New Jersey then turns the gun on himself. Police say motive was revenge after she spurned his attentions and attempted to elope. Piani, an inspector at a cast iron pipe plant, is hospitalized with a self-inflicted bullet wound. Shedaker, 39, had inherited $50,000 to $100,000 from husband Harry Shedaker who died in an auto crash last year.

Los Angeles reports detail William Hickman, accused slayer of Marian Parker, eluding police after a gray-blue Cadillac pursuit. A youth named Sidney Farkes was briefly held when fingerprints did not match, and witnesses tied Hickman to Bellevue Arms bundles and a Chrysler car.
