Washington December 19 The House refused to approve three Senate amendments to the 116 million emergency relief appropriation for Farm Board funds. The bill was sent back to conference as leaders hoped to push it through today.
Chicago December 19 AP Judge John H Lyle said efforts should be made to send Alphonse Capone to the electric chair for the killings tied to his gang. He urged action against Capone who has faced prior vagrancy warrants and linked the 1920 Colosimo murder and a later 1924 saloon slaying to his alleged crimes. The Herald and Examiner noted the state attorney may review Howard's killing to pursue murder charges if justified. Assistant State Attorney Ditchburne said he would act if the files warranted.
The house bill to authorize an additional appropriation of 150 million dollars for the farm board was reported to the senate today but Senator Borah of Idaho objected to immediate consideration.

Detroit police say burlesque actress Margaret Owen admitted her voice lured radio commentator Gerald Buckley to his death. Owen, 22, has been in a psychiatric ward since November 29 after claiming poison whiskey blocked her testimony in another murder case. She told police a man prompted her to call Buckley to a party at the La Salle Hotel lobby before the July 23 shooting. Police have not disclosed the man’s custody status.
The wife of Federal Judge Harry B. Anderson testified before a house committee investigating his conduct in the West Tennessee district bench. She defended the judge by saying charges of using negro court messengers as house boys and deducting their salaries show no corruption and reflect southern customs. She cited that negro employees work around their employers before and after hours and that small loans taken by the men were repaid from pay. She noted her own checks often cashed for them and referenced loans totaling over $800 to James Banks, a former messenger who testified against the judge.

In Lewisburg Pennsylvania a touring car crashed into a bridge abutment over the Susquehanna River killing Wheeler Watson son of federal judge Albert L Watson Hiram Gair and his brother Wilbur Watsontown Robert Wison and William Rohn of Canton Ohio. A sixth man Paul Amnkst of Watsontown was injured. The crash followed a collision with a car ahead and the vehicle rolled over multiple times.
Two airplanes joined 300 plus guardsmen and possemen in a dawn search of Bogue Chitto Swamp near Safford Alabama for four bandits, one white man and three Negroes who reportedly hid after taking about $4000 from Marion Junction State Bank. Ground crews used trail dogs and smoke bombs to guide the search as the 106th Observation Squadron provided air support with machine guns.
Severville Tenn December 19 A condemnation suit involving 37500 acres near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is nearing conclusion. Champion Fibre Company Canton North Carolina owns the Tennessee side tract valued by witnesses from 275000 to 750000 dollars, while the company seeks about 4180000. A jury of view has heard three weeks of evidence to set the price.
