House approves extension of foreign aid amid heavy cuts
In a 202 vote, the House narrowly approved a one year extension of the foreign aid program, cutting roughly 1.2 billion from the President's request and setting fiscal year funding at 2.2 million in economic loans and 596 million in military aid. Negotiations with the Senate proceed on a 28 billion House bill versus a 2.6 billion Senate measure.
