Mead Fibre to Build Million Dollar Finishing Plant
Mead Fibre Company to start next week on a finished paper mill costing about 1 million dollars. The plant will produce 35 tons of paper daily, expand pulp capacity, add about 100 workers, and employ 350 after completion. Construction to include brick and steel buildings near the current plant with a three month completion for structures and six months for full operation.

Burned Tennessee Eastman chemist faces grave injuries
Stuart Maher chief chemist at Tennessee Eastman Corporation suffered severe burns when a wood oil distilling still exploded in the plant laboratory around 11 this morning. Death of 15 Month Old Berniece Blevins in Coeburn Va
Elizabeth Berniece Blevins daughter of Mr and Mrs Edgar Blevins died at Coeburn Virginia Friday August 18 after a brief illness. Parents and grandparents nearby in Kingsport and White City were deeply affected by her death and funeral services were held at Starnes Virginia with Rev Sanders. The child had walked and spoken despite being only 15 months old and her mother was ill during the illness and funeral.
