Georgiana Gov Lester Maddox showed off his unusual talent by riding a mule backward during Mule Days held over the weekend at Gold Hills in Dahlonega. The stunt followed his noted fame for bicycle riding in reverse.
City Council will meet Tuesday August 21 at 7 pm in City Hall Council Chambers. Sullivan County Planning Council holds its regular meeting Tuesday August 21 at 7 30 pm in the Sullivan County Courthouse Blountin. Airport Commission semi annual meeting is Wednesday August 15 at 7 pm in the Commission Room at Tri City Airport. Sullivan County Board of Education meets Wednesday August 22 at 7 pm at the Superintendent's office.
The Appalachian District Fair starts Monday Aug 20 at Ure fairgrounds in Gray Tennessee and runs through Saturday Aug 25 with events across the week.
