Blountville Club Names New Officers At Picnic

The Blountville Home Demonstration Club elected new officers for the year at its picnic at Raytheon Park. Elected were Mrs Wilson Carr president, Mrs John Boyd vice president, Mrs William LaPrade Jr treasurer, Mrs Dick Carr assistant treasurer, and Mrs George Turner secretary. Members plan to attend the Kingsport dress review on Aug 1 and discuss programs including a dour workshop a fashion show and fair and a July 4 parade float. Mrs Jota Tait and Mrs Arthur Spurgeon will host in September. Miss Mimer Marion and her committee will present a reading program.

Working Girl Fashions From Office To Party

The Tri Cities Chapter of the National Secretaries Association sponsored a fashion show showcasing fall and winter working girl styles from W. B. Greene. Outfits feature short skirts, high necklines, and adaptable pieces for day and evening wear with color themes from camel to pastels. Proceeds fund scholarships and charitable groups.

Design Principles Taught At Colonial Garden Club Meeting

The Colonial Garden Club held a meeting at the Mas sengills cottage on Boone Lake where Mrs. E F Clouse led a workshop on vertical, triangular and hogarth designs. She outlined design principles judges seek such as balance dominance contrast rhythm proportion and scale. She stressed dominance as the focal point and noted flowers should be 1½ to 3 times shorter than the container. The club plans a future flower show and members showed strong interest in the judging points.

Rehearsal Dinner Set By Appalachia WSCS Circle

Mrs. Frea Henley hosted Circle 3 of the Woman's Society of Christian Service for the August meeting devotion by Norman Vincent Peale. A business session included pledge signing and cards for the sick. A Rehearsal Dinner is planned for August 27 served by the circle with Mrs. C. E. Gillerwater hosting September’s meeting. Refreshments during social hour were for guests Mrs. Howard Myers and Mrs. A. C. Parker and members including Mrs. C. E. Gillenwater, Mrs. A. Q. Dougherty, Nira Bonnie Davidson, Mrs. tb. Gibson and Mrs. Kyle Strong Jr.

Spurgeon Hosts Circle of Women at Blountville Church

Mrs. Arthur Spurgeon hosted Circle No 1 of the Blountville Presbyterian Church Women. Mrs. Philip Earhart attended as the Bible study on The Church in the Home was assessed. Mrs. Dick Care led monthly evangelism emphasis. Mrs. John Dail will host Circle on September 14.
