Garay faces new troubles after wrecked flight attempt
Norfollk Va Aug 12 AP Picked up yesterday at sea from the wreckage of the plane in which he was attempting a non stop flight from New York to Tegucigalpa Honduras Captain Lisandro Garay was beheaded toward port and perhaps new troubles. The flier's jaw was broken bruise and cut and near exhausted when the steamer Bidocn of the American Brazilian line came upon him yesterday morning off the North Carolina coast. He had left New York Sunday afternoon and fallen into the Atlantic Sunday night. Investigations were under way to determine whether he violated aviation regulations in taking off in the monoplane which separated into the sea. The Honduran legation began an investigation when it was learned he had removed the plane from a storage hangar at New York. Garay was under threat of a court martial for failing to obey an order to return to his homeland during revolutionary disturbances several months ago and the Honduran government had secured revocation of both his plane license and a diplomatic pass. The license withdrawal prevented removing the plane from storage as planned to ship to Tegucigalpa. Garay made an unforeseen start from Floyd Bennett field Sunday.
