Plant and Tannery to Be Operated at Full Capacity
The Grant Leather Corporation plant near Kingsport will be run at full capacity under new owners Ludow-Jones Company of Boyton Mass and renamed Kingsport Tanneries Inc and Kingsport Extract Corporation. The extract plant began full operation yesterday and will use about 30,000 cords of wood annually costing around 180000 dollars with bark import needs of 120600 dollars. The change raises employment from 65 to about 176 workers and expands bark and leather production, with new bark extract output planned at an extra million pounds monthly. Local suppliers and bolting operations will be reorganized to support broader distribution and factory growth.
