One Man Killed In Tanker Explosion
An explosion aboard the Standard Oil tanker William Rockefeller off Bayonne New Jersey caused one death and eleven injuries among crewmen. The blast sparked a large fire. the ship was beached near Brooklyn as tugs and fireboats battled flames and dwindling cargo fumes. The body of deck watchman John Ward was found about 200 feet from the Bayonne pier during unloading. The cause remained undetermined though officials suspected a spark igniting cargo vapors.

Chicago August 9 James Stanley Joyce, the third of Peggy Hopkins Joyce's millionaire husbands, was sued for divorce yesterday by his second wife the former Mr. R. N. Vail of New York. The bill alleges cruelty as in his first divorce. Joyce and his second wife wed November 20 1926 five years after his first marriage ended. The first marriage lasted a little over a year.
