Bray youth in custody after girl found dead near Kingsport
An 18 year old named J D Bray was jailed after Willie Mae Gentry, 14, was found fatally shot near her Cassard home about half a mile from the Gentry residence. Dr J H McConnell ruled the death a 22 caliber rifle killing with a close range shot to the head. The scene showed a struggle and the body dragged through briars. Bray had been seen with a 22 rifle and authorities planned bond arrangements today. The community mourned as the investigation continued.

William Collie Baldwin a 24 year old Cherry Hill resident died by electrocution at the Tennessee Eastman plant. Found by coworker George Grills the body showed death 8 to 10 hours earlier from 440 volt trolley wire contact. Beating Charged in Death of Youth in Alabama
Detectives pursue a link between the July 20 beating of a boy at the Alabama Boys Industrial School and the death of Raymond Tefteller, 19, who died at Hillman Hospital.
