Steamship Lake Calvenia Sunk in Hampton Roads Collision
The Lake Calvenia, a 3500 ton steamship from New York to Norfolk, sank within five minutes after being rammed by the H. H. Rogers in Hampton Roads near Thimble Light Old Point Comfort. All crew were rescued by the coast guard cutter Manning. the H. H. Rogers suffered only minor damage.
