Three Tank Fire Rages Near Doraville With Evacuations
A large fire at the Triangle Refinery storage farm in Doraville burned three gasoline tanks after an explosion. Firefighters, low on foam, awaited a fresh supply flown from Philadelphia and Wilmington to combat the blaze. Two workers died and several others were injured as flames reached homes within 10 miles. Evacuees sought shelter in schools or with friends while crews fought the fire with water on two tanks and foam on the third. The incident prompted mass evacuations for hundreds of homes and continued firefighting efforts into the day.
