Two Americal cavalry companies surrounded a Viet Cong unit in the Central Highlands near Chu Pong Mountain just east of the Cambodian border. Air support and artillery pressed the assault as darkness fell with at least 10 Viet Cong reported dead. One Skyraider was lost over the Mekong Delta amid broad air strikes.
