In Nashville AP reports Under secretary of Commerce Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. will address the State Democratic Party fundraising dinner costing 25 dollars per plate. Delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City August 24 through 27 will be announced.
Dry Was Soaked selected at the state convention. Each congressional district will nominate four delegates and two alternates. In addition, each district caucus will select one co presidential elector. The nomi party leaders expect 3,000 to nations will be placed before the 4,000 Democrat leaders from state convention for ratification across the state to attend the! The state convention also will dinner at the Fairgrounds coll elect 28 delegates at large for scum here. The dinner comes off the national convention. This the eve of the Democratic State will provide the Tennessee dele gation with 64 delegates and 38 noon Thursday at the Municipal alternates at Atlantic City. The Auditorium state will have 40 votes at the convention divided among the 64 delegates. Gov. Frank Clement will ad dress the state convention and State Democratic Chairman Jimmy Peeler will preside. Peeler has named these dis trict chairmen for the district caucuses: 1st. Charles Worley, and, Harry Asquith, 3rd, John Dunlap, 4th, M. A. Allen, 5th, James Wilson Jr., éth, John An derton, 7th, Kenneth Woods, ath, J.B. Avery Jr., and th, to be selected later. SALT LAKE CITY (AP)- Charles W. Dry, 41, Salt Lake City, was fined $150 in City Court Tuesday for drunken driving. The fine was imposed by Judge M. H. Morris after Dry pleaded guilty.
In Chattanooga AP reports jurors heard testimony as part of a federal grand jury probe into Hoffa and three co defendants. The panel is examining possible perjury interference with jurors or witnesses and illegal wiretapping connected to Hoffa’s 1962 conspiracy trial and related activities. Bert Spindel testified about monitoring radio conversations near Hoffa’s hotel. The defendants, including Hoffa, were sentenced to prison sentences or fines in the past and are currently free on bond pending appeals.
