Local merchants advertise a county wide sale featuring shoes, men's dress shirts, calico and muslin, winter underwear, white dress goods, neckwear and belts. Free premiums with $5 purchases, linoleum flooring and rugs savings, and a piano offered at a bargain. Persistent low prices claim no further reductions even for large quantities.
Don’t forget your pocket books as bargains abound in this sale. Delivery wagon for sale and a 1300 pound horse suitable for farm work. Picture molding offered at four price. An extra 50 cent framing charge by an expert. Free premiums during the sale and a ticket with every $100 purchase.
Early returns show Geo W. Egan of Sioux Falls leading the Republican governor race with 12 681 votes against Vessey 12 154 and Elrod 10 142. The article notes congressmen in doubt, Johnson likely winning treasurer, and Republicans naming county officers including Madison for State Senator and Look for Auditor among others. The piece also covers rail bill passages, Taft muckraking remarks, and press accountability.
