Reverend G Pinnix pastor of First Baptist Church was brought home by ambulance from Bowman Gil hospital Winston Salem Sunday. His condition is described as satisfactory though his back remains in a cast from an automobile accident two weeks earlier.
Kings Mountain Kiwanis members will hear Van A Covington of Gastonia speak on What Cotton Paces at the Woman's Club Thursday night at 7. Attendance urged.
James H. Foster son of Mr and Mrs T R Poster has received an honorable discharge from the army after arriving from England on September 4. He served overseas in England France Belgium and Germany during his tour of duty.
Rev P D Patrick president of the ministerial association urged Kings Mountain citizens to plan attendance at their churches on the upcoming World Wide Sunday observance set for October 7. Almost all Kings Mountain is expected to participate.
Hobert Friers internationally known traveler and humorist will address the Gove and County Executives Club. Advance reservations at 1.25 per plate must be sent to J. W. Osborne club secretary by noon Thursday. This marks the club’s first meeting since early summer.

The Southern District Motherhood of the Lutheran Synod of North Carolina holds its quarterly meeting at Carlton Club House in Cherryville Indiana on Friday September 28 1945 at 730 PM. Dr P E Monroe president of Lenoir Rhyne College introduces speaker Rev Dr John L Yort of Southern Theological Seminary Columbia.
A well known Kings Mountain man is affiliated with a furniture store opening soon in the area. Bo McClain, the store manager, announced the development. Captain Thomas Roberts of Kings Mountain, son of Frank Roberts, has been released to inactive duty status by the army after service in Europe. Orm received orders at Bragg last Saturday. The Kings Mountain officer served in the European theater for 20 months as part of the sales personnel at the store.
Captain John Z McBrayer a Kings Mountain native and WWII veteran has been appointed county service officer by the board of commissioners. He will open the fulltime office at the county courthouse in Shelby with biweekly visits to Kings Mountain to assist local veterans and families with GI Bill benefits loans training insurance and related service issues. He outlines hours and aims to aid with pensions grave markers and other veteran needs.
Real estate agent P. D. Herndon announces the Julian property on Enat King Street will be split into building lots and sold at auction Saturday at 3.00. The former high school athletic field lies near York road Deal street and water works, with 25 foot depths. Auctioneer George Allen to oversee bidding. buyer may take two additional lots at the same price. Terms available at Herndon residence.
M Nolsler, a brother of Kings Mountain, pledged the Beta Theta Pi chapter at Davidson College this week. He joins as a first year student, per the college announcement.
Four members of the Cleveland county hospital board plan a Tuesday meeting to pick a site for a Kings Mountain hospital allowed by a special bond election. Plank Estate acreages near West King Street and adjoining properties, plus gifts from Blackmer Co and Wray Williams, are among favored options totaling over 10 acres. The full board will decide, with the bond plan covering 50 beds and about 160000 dollars, aided by a bequest from the Little Goath estate. Attendance figures from Sunday reports show church participation and Go to Church campaign delays persist.
Padgett, released by the army, plans to resume private practice soon. He was ordered to inactive duty and states return date is uncertain for two reasons including his prior status before July 31, 1902.

He was commissioned in 1942 after Officer Candidate School and plans to resume work with Kings Mountain Drag Company. His son Sammy, then a year old, greeted him with pictures proving who he looked like.

She resigned effective October 1 at a church council meeting, recalling early service in 1885-80 era and noting the pipe organ upgrade.
Kings Mountain will keep a ration board at least through January 1 with consolidation talks between Kings Mountain and Shelby boards. W B Blakely, chairman, says L W Driscoll shared the plan in a telephone talk. Effective Monday the aid staff will be cut to two: Mrs Nell Thomson and Mrs Madge Wartick.
