Embezzler Mrs Cook Gets Year and Day Jail Term

Philadelphia June 20 Mrs Elizabeth Cook a widow and mother of five was given a single year and one day plus a $100 fine for embezzling $91 from the United States Mint. She admitted taking nickels dimes and quarters while serving as an examiner and claimed she repaired $89. The case also notes her residence in Charleroi Pennsylvania. A separate item from Charleroi reports a coal miner shooting his 19 month old daughter at home, claiming a sacrifice in the eyes of the Lord. The infant was hospitalized with a head wound and grave conditions were reported.
