Baby Winners In Jaycee Contest In Kings Mountain
The Kings Mountain Junior Chamber of Commerce will crown baby winners next Thursday in the first of two programs. At least 30 youngsters aged one to five are expected to compete for two loving cups. ARP Bible School Closes Wednesday
The Bible school at Boyce Memorial ARP church will close on Wednesday June 14 at 7 o'clock with a program for parents and friends. City Awards Contract for Two Sewer Projects
Reed McAbee of Hickory contractor was awarded the bid to build 2100 feet of B inch terra cotta sewer with 10 manholes and 215 yards of rock excavation plus 44 wyes. McAbee bid $7,448.75 lowest of three, with work to begin within two weeks. Projects on Watterson Street to serve Wright Negro housing and on N Sims Street to address a bad condition in that area. Other bids were Eliott Building Co., Hickory $8,391.50 and C M Hetelfinger, Charlotte $9,552.14.

City police and highway patrol officers will issue citations to drivers who exceed speed limits or run stop signs. Chief N. M. Farr said the force is doubled in key areas and stressed full stops at main highways. He noted no fatal city accidents since 1947 and pledged to maintain that record.

Final Rites Held For Bob McDonald
Funeral services for Robert Lyle McDonald a 19 year old from Gastonia were held at Ellis Funeral Home Abbeville South Carolina. He died from injuries after an automobile wreck near Mount Falls South Carolina. The body was buried at Gastonia Memorial Park in Gaston later Thursday afternoon. Bobby was a rising senior at Duke University. His father owned the Gastonia Roller Flyer Spindle Company where he served as president and general manager. Two other occupants were not seriously injured and a family member was reported seriously hurt. A sister and brother survived.
