Missionary Allen Craig to speak at church services

Local bulletins announce Missionary Allen Craig from Africa will speak at the morning worship at the Presbyterian church and at the School of Foreign Missions in the evening. A special Foreign Missionary Day is set at St Matthew's Lutheran Church with all departments meeting at 9 45 a m for the annual service. An offering will aid rebuilding efforts in Tsington China. City officials announced that 587 city license tags had been sold Thursday morning, detailing the total figures and linking the sale to a citywide licensing drive.

Thomasville Names E C Brandon Jr City Engineer

Thomasville mayor announces the appointment of E C Brandon Jr of Thomasville as city engineer and supervisor. He will assume duties February 1 and will plan expansions of sewer and water facilities while supervising engineering operations. Brandon, 34, will not be city manager and will receive 350 dollars monthly plus 50 dollars car allowance. He is a Virginia Tech graduate and former industrial engineer with local firms and construction work. He plans to move his family soon after February 1 as housing is found.

Barnett Opens Cleaning Firm In Kings Mountain

R E Barnett announces Victory Cleaners on Piedmont Avenue adjoining Piedmont Drug Star. Formerly with Hords Furniture and Kings Furniture, he has eight years in sales and dry cleaning. The firm will offer pickup and delivery with a phone line likely by February 1. Barnett, married with two children, joins the Lions Club and volunteer fire department.

Merchants Group To Elect Officers In Kings Mountain

Ballots for the Kings Mountain Merchants Association officer election will go out this weekend. Nominees for president are Joe Lee Woodward and Harold Coggins. Nominating rules call for a second-high polling to elect vice president. Eight nominees vie for four director posts: E. E. Marlowe, W. G. Grantham, Sam Davis, R. M. Snow, Sam Weir, Hilton Ruth, L. H. Lowe, and John Fisher. Hold-over directors include Martion Phifer, C. F. Thomasson, B. C. McClain, Wilson Crawford, and J. W. Milam ex officio. Retiring directors are O. W. Myers, J. B. Keeter, B. C. Red Cross Official Visited Local Chapter Tuesday

Larry Williams of the Southeastern Area Headquarters in Atlanta visited the local Red Cross chapter Tuesday to discuss funds with John L. McGiff and Carl F. Mauney. The Merchants Association employer-employee banquet planning committee was announced by President J. W. Milam, naming Hilton Ruth as chairman with G. A. Bridge, Blalock, and L. Hi. Lowe on the panel.

Clinton Couple Named Managers of Kings Mountain Club

Mr and Mrs Archie Clark of Clinton are slated to assume management of Kings Mountain Country Club Inc. They will reside at the club with Mrs Clark handling dining and guest services while Mr Clark oversees operations. President Pionk praises their extensive country club experience and credits former managers for stabilizing operations since the club opened last summer.

Mayor Secures ICC Allocation of Tank Cars

Kings Mountain expects a shipment of six tank cars carrying kerosene and fuel oil to ease a critical shortage. Mayor H. Tom Fulton secured action after telephoning ICC officials in Washington and railroad managers in Dallas. The emergency supply will be distributed among dealers, stores, service stations, and direct home buyers at cost despite higher prices.

Inventor Otto Hehn Plans Month in Kings Mountain

Otto Hehn, noted inventor of Nu-Screen curved glass cinema surface, will spend a month in Kings Mountain to test a new 15 color colorization method for film. He will work at Dixie theatre and visit Chicago to access lamps for the Color-Vision process.
