Assessment bills to go out Friday in city payment terms
City Clerk Joe Hendrick said assessment bills for street payments will be mailed Friday under North Carolina terms. Assessments are payable within 30 days at net and accrue interest after April 1. Notices cover all assessments approved by the city board of commissioners on January 12.

In a prior special session the city board of commissioners acted on police matters. A committee including Lloyd Davis and Orland Pearson was authorized to plan a separate entrance for women prisoners to the city jail to appease inspector T A Early of the Welfare department who threatened to condemn the jail. The board placed police under the Law Enforcement Officers Benefit and Retirement fund and approved Everett Jr as second shift desk sergeant at 125 dollars monthly plus fees and appointed Bridges and W E Stroup as magistrates to issue warrants. Falls Asked To Present Bill to Legislature on Manager Form
The Kings Mountain city planning board unanimously urged Representative B T Falls to introduce a local act calling a special election on adopting a city manager form. The plan seeks a May election before the regular city vote, but the city board split 3 2 with the mayor casting the tie breaking vote against it. The board asks that Laurinburg style language be used, omitting school board appointment by council.
