Charles H. Padgett, a former Shelby auto dealer, was arrested Monday afternoon at the Horseshoe Grill by Officers P R Saunders and W G Ellison on a fugitive warrant issued by Sheriff Haywood Allen. Padgett, wanted in Blacksburg, is charged with writing bad and worthless checks. he was turned over to the sheriff after the arrest.

Funeral rites for Mrs. Leila Summer Dennis 68 aunt of Mrs. George Morrow of Kings Mountain were held Tuesday at St Luke's Lutheran Church in Columbia D C with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. She died Monday after a coronary thrombosis suffered three days earlier. She was native of Gaston County daughter of Harriet Metcalf and Jacob A Summey. Surviving are her husband E T Dennis and several nephews and nieces.
