County Citizens Own Nine Million In Bonds
Treasury report shows Cleveland County residents held 9,235,156 in Series E F and G bonds as of December 32 1949. They had purchased 13,193,079 in bonds since May 1941 and redeemed 3,957,923. North Carolina total net bonds value stands at 541,439,784.25. Series E mature in 10 years Series F in 12 years and Series G pay 2.5 percent semiannually. Purchasers from 1941 can recover full face value in two more years.

Bloodhounds Aid Arrest Of Two Negro Youths In Robbery
Kings Mountain police aided by Dallas Prison Camp bloodhounds arrested two local Negro youths, 16 year old Tkie Jamison and 18 year old Paul Jackson, for a Monday night robbery of Will Seawright near Wingo Street. They were led from the scene by scent to the Wingo home and back to the jail where they were booked. Jamison was later released on bond, while Jackson remained jailed in Kings Mountain for lack of $900 bond and both were to be bound over to Superior Court. The case involved about 70 dollars and occurred around 1 a.m. Monday.

Township Polio fund gifts totalled 7 406 to beat the 5 300 quota by almost 50 percent. Complete figures read Thursday by Township Chairman Ollie Harris show Grover Area $1 547 65 and Kings Mountain area about $6 000. Divisions list Kings Mountain industrial gifts 1 688 37 and Grover community 1 547 65 with church and school gifts. Harris praised all contributors and noted county total over 32 000 against a 20 000 county quota.

Members of an athletic boosters group began organizing this week to form the Mountaineer Club to actively support local athletics both physically and financially. The initial aim is to raise funds for a one week training trip at Camp Cherokee for the 1949 football team, with constitution and by laws to be voted on at the first meeting.
