Funeral services for Rev. Joseph E. Berryhill former pastor of the Kings Mountain Presbyterian Church were held at Steste Creek Presbyterian Church Mecklenburg County on Sunday afternoon. Honorary pallbearers included ministers of the Mecklenburg area with active pallbearers from family connections. Berryhill died early Friday after heart trouble and had recently helped with the new Presbyterian church dedication in Kings Mountain. He and his wife lived in Kings Mountain from 1916 to 1918 and served several local churches. He also briefly directed city schools during World War I before leaving pastoral work and moving to Charlotte. Attendees from the area included Mr. and Mrs. Joe Thomson Mrs. J. C. Nickels and Miss Jette Plonk.

Funeral services for Mrs. John Lemaster, 43, of Swann, were held Monday at Mount Olive Methodist Church with Rev. Armstonia officiating. Interment followed at Mount Olive. She died Saturday in an Asheville hospital. Survived by husband and children, and her by George Swift of Swann, with many friends attending from Asheville, Swann, Gastonia, Bessemer City and Mountain.
