The Men s Club of Central Methodist Church will hold its regular meeting this evening at 6 38 PM in the church dining room. An oyster supper is to be served from 6 to 8 PM with a program arranged. all members urged to attend.

Kings Mountain merchants prepared for the Christmas buying season with unusually large shipments and thorough store decorations. The Men's Club offers cash prizes for best decorations, and manufacturers report better merchandise at lower prices. Officials predict strong gift demand with practical gifts leading among the purchases.
An operetta The Christmas Toys Wake Up will be performed at Raat School Friday evening Dec 9 at 7 o clock. Admission costs 6 and the public is invited.
Funeral services for C. W. Richardson, patriarch of a four member family, were led by Rev. G. L. Kerr of Winston Salem. The service noted his long work and close friendship with the family. pallbearers included J. C. Lacky, NOP MHL, Robert Iles, Joan McGill, J. A. Dunnagan and others.
Mel Richardson died after a short period of illness. He lived most of his life in Kings Mountain area, known for his unassuming Christian character and many local friends and neighbors. Survived by one daughter from first marriage, Mrs. Walter H. Carpenter, and other relatives including a daughter from second marriage, Mrs. R. B. Keeter, plus grandchildren and great grandchildren. a second wife Mary Hicks Campbell also survived. A daughter from second marriage died in infancy.
A church sponsored supper at Shore Abex in Central featured a large crowd Friday evening. Rev E W Fox introduced the new pastor of Grace Mthediat church, Mr Carradine Moss served as quiz master, with music by the Seconary Se Wetich choir and a dish of chicken dinner provided.
George King a 45 year old white man was found dead about 9:00 A M Saturday morning in a pile of sor whucka behind Wid Morris in Kings Mountain northern section. County Coroner reports no foul play. Klug a WPA worker was mentioned in the minor notes.

A Kings Mountain parade formed on HecLione Avenue and wound along Mountain Street to the Inversol Theatre as Santa rode the new truck under bright lights to delight merchants and citizens. A Home Stores clerk was tricked by a stranger who bought a two cent item with a ten dollar bill and repeatedly changed it for other bills until the man ended with 1500 dollars of the store’s money. He was seen leaving Kings Mountain in a Ford Roadster on Monday morning. Merchants are warned to watch for change artists and alert police if detected.
Thursday evening at 7 20 PM the First Presbyterian Church concludes a week of messages by Mr D M Ale Dee of San Antonio Texas with practical talks for youth and all ages. The 80 year old speaker brings lessons from a long life of experience intended for the young and reflective listeners.
Women of BI Bethel Club plan a Memorial Tree for Miss Violet Goforth Saturday evening December 10 at 6 o clock at the club house. Church women host an oyster and chicken supper and bazaar at 7 o clock with many homemade items on display. Public invited to attend.
A religious service was held Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S C Ratterree to honor the approaching date of a week of worship led by WM Boyer pastor of Boyce Memorial Church. Attendees included church deacons Sunday school teachers and family members.
