James H. Briggs a Civil War veteran and longtime local figure died of heart trouble at his daughter Mrs Grant Ratcliff s home in Montezuma. He was 80 and known for attending Decoration Day services where he served as marshal. Short funeral services were held at his home and he was buried in Harveysburg cemetery.
